POSITION TITLE: FirewatchREPORTS TO: Mill Services ManagerA fire watch is the person or persons responsible for continuously observing hot work activity to detect and respond to fires during hot work operations.Primary Responsibilities:Ensuring firefighting equipment is readyKeeping the area free of combustible materialsWatching for sparks, slag, or heat sourcesWarning workers if there's an excessive risk of fireExtinguishing small fires immediatelyCalling emergency services if necessaryHandling components, modules, and systems of heavy equipmentConverting heavy equipment with various mobile accessoriesObserving relevant safety, accident prevention, and environmental regulationsPerform routine and Pre/ Post Trip inspections and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or repairs to the supervisor.Clean equipmentMaintain and protect all property.Maintain all required certifications required by OSHA and company safety programs.Provide outstanding customer service operations.Perform any other tasks assigned to support and improve the overall team operations.EDUCATION High School Diploma or GEDPhoenix on-site training as requiredREQUIRED SKILLS Ability to kneel, crawl, bend, and or climb without assistanceAble to lift up to 50lbsAbility to work in extreme heat or cold weather/environmental conditionsCompliance with all Phoenix Global Safety Policies & Procedures, including wearing specific Personal Protective Equipment required for various job functions.Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical & drug screen.Must be willing to work assigned shiftPHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENTThe physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. The employee is required to use hands and fingers to feel, handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
