Position: Sr. Technician Location: Cambridge, MA (Onsite) Length: 6+ Month Contract *Required to obtain and maintain a government security clearance* Job Description:
The Sr. Technician is responsible for completing various assembly processes according to a detailed set of process instructions. Assisting engineers in applying engineering technology to develop and test product assemblies or components. Devises, fabricates, and assembles new or modified mechanical components or assemblies. Sets up and tests complete prototype units and subassemblies under operational conditions. Strict adherence to process instructions and documentation requirements is expected. Works closely with a team of engineers and skilled operators. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Performs skilled electro-mechanical assembly work
• Daily use of electro-mechanical drawings, assembly drawings, etc.
• Familiarity with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing techniques, symbols, details, and information which is embedded into complex electro-mechanical drawings.
• Recommendation and use of customized tooling, hand tools, assembly aids, and fixtures (prototype in nature) in the build of complex electro-mechanical assemblies.
• Perform hand soldering with solid technique • Perform complex conventional and or microelectronics assembly.
• With limited supervision but with adequate training, may operate and/or maintain microelectronics assembly equipment requiring highly skilled knowledge.
• With adequate training and limited supervision, performs work of an essentially repetitive nature for production of deliverable hardware.
• With limited supervision, carefully documents their own work consistent with work unit policy in handwritten form or using common computer-based software such as MS Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, etc.
• At the discretion of the supervisor, performs focused training to enable progression into higher skilled positions.
• Other temporary assignments at the discretion of the supervisor. Qualifications:
• Knowledge of cleanroom practices and protocols.
• Working within a prototype laboratory and IR&D-type environment.
• Working within a small-scale or LRIP operations-type environment.
• Knowledge of small-scale production environment.
• Proficiency with MS Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook.
• Familiarity w/ more modern collaboration-type tools (SharePoint, Confluence).
• Education: High school diploma required. Two years of applicable technical education preferred. • 10+ years of applicable experience working in a electro-mechanical assembly process or advanced packaging or production facility.
