About this roleAt NORESCO, Project Developers direct the development of complex projects by identifying, assessing, and structuring technical and financial solutions for our federal customers' resiliency, energy efficiency, and capital improvement challenges. They have a strong understanding of a wide range of technology offerings and have the communication and business skills necessary to bridge the gap between the sales, engineering, construction management and O&M groups. Project Developers translate customer needs into strategic and technical guidance to the development team and possess a blend of technical, financial, contractual, and customer management skills. They communicate with senior executives within our organization and the customer's organization to ensure a risk mitigated and customer-centric project.Key responsibilitiesTechnical/financial support of sales activitiesFinancial modeling of Energy Performance ContractsProposal writing and review/QC Management and coordination of proposal teamTechnical/financial support of sales activities leading to new businessConduct walk‑throughs of customer facilities to determine project viabilityInterview customers to determine facility needs and assess customer expectationsAssist in the preparation of customer presentationsPresent the business case of the proposal for oral interviews and customer meetingsFinancial modeling of Energy Performance Contracts: combines energy savings values, sub‑contracted costs, and purchased material costs and incorporates these data into NORESCO's financial model; reviews energy savings and costs for reasonableness based on past experience, metrics, and knowledge of the project; analyzes Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) for technical and financial viability; identifies ECM and project cost and savings risks and develops a plan and strategy to manage and mitigate these risksProposal writing and review/QC: responsible for financial sections of the proposal; reviews ECM write‑ups and other technical proposal sections provided by Senior Energy Engineers for risk mitigation and customer pain points; coordinates proposal document strategy and tactics with the team; author and review sections for competitive RFP response for new site selections; supported by a Proposal Administrator (PA) to review, edit, and assemble the Preliminary Assessment and IGA/DFS documentsManagement and coordination of development team: acts as a primary point of contact with the customer during project development; manages the proposal team, including Account Executive, Senior Energy Engineer(s), Lighting and Water Auditor/Designer, Construction Manager, O&M, M&V Specialist, Legal and Finance; hosts regular conference calls to communicate strategy and tactics, review team members' responsibilities, and progress to date against milestones; coordinates and leads risk review meetings prior to proposal submission, presenting the business case for the project to senior management; manages the PA and IGA/DFS budgets and timelines to produce project deliverables on time and within budget; secures project award; stays engaged through implementation and performance phases to manage contract compliance and customer satisfactionRequired qualificationsBachelor's degree5+ years' experience as a project developer, project engineer, and/or in project managementMust be a U.S. citizen (due to contractual agreements)Preferred qualificationsExperience working on Federal ESPC and UESC is a plusExperience in the development of Energy Savings Performance Contract (ESPC) projects and/or Utility Energy Service Contracts (UESC) preferredGeneral engineering knowledge of HVAC, lighting & lighting controls, DDC/pneumatic controls, and building envelope; experience with resiliency measures, including onsite generation (PV, CHP, etc.), battery storage, microgrid, a distinct plusSkilled with Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPointStrong technical writing skillsSales aptitude and keen business acumen; strong communication, project management, and team leadership skillsPay rangeThe annual salary for this position is between $96,000.00 and $192,000.00 annually.
