Traffic Control Technician
Banks Construction Company is looking for hardworking, dependable individuals who are interested in starting or growing a career in the heavy highway construction industry. As a Traffic Control Technician, you'll support our Traffic Control Division by helping set up and maintain safe work zones for road, highway, and heavy civil construction projects throughout the Charleston area. You'll assist with lane closures, flagging operations, traffic shifts, and other traffic control needs on active jobsites.
This is a field position with the opportunity to learn and grow within the traffic control and construction industry.

About the Traffic Control Division
The Traffic Control Division plays an important role in keeping our jobsites safe and efficient. This team works closely with our crews, customers, and the general public to help manage traffic around active construction work. Traffic Control team members assist with lane closures, stop-and-go traffic, flagging stations, signage, cones, and other work zone safety needs.
What You'll Do
As a Traffic Control Technician, you'll assist in directing and regulating the movement of traffic around our projects. You'll work under the guidance of a foreman or supervisor who will help set up the plan for each job.
You may help with:
- Setting up and taking down traffic control devices, signs, cones, and barrels
- Assisting with lane closures and traffic shifts
- Flagging and directing traffic safely around active work zones
- Monitoring traffic flow and reacting to changing conditions
- Helping direct vehicles to alternate routes or lanes when needed
- Communicating clearly with crew members, drivers, and the public
- Following all company and OSHA safety policies and procedures
- Working as part of a team to keep crews and the traveling public safe
- Performing additional tasks as assigned by the foreman or supervisor
Schedule
This position requires flexibility with scheduling. Candidates must be available to work days and nights, depending on project needs, weather, and crew schedules. Hours may vary, and overtime may be required.

We are looking for someone who is dependable, safety-minded, and ready to work hard. The ideal candidate:
- Wants to build a career in construction or traffic control
- Has strong communication skills
- Can work well with crew members, customers, and the general public
- Is able to remain alert and aware of surroundings while working near traffic
- Can work outdoors in different weather conditions, including heat
- Is comfortable working around active jobsites, traffic, and equipment
- Is flexible and available to work both day and night shifts as needed
- Shows up on time and is ready to work each day
- Takes safety seriously
- Has a positive attitude and is willing to help wherever needed
- Has a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Is able to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Is at least 21 years old
Previous traffic control, flagging, construction, or labor experience is helpful, but not required. We are willing to train the right person.
