Position Summary
The Training Instructor is responsible for delivering curriculum-based instruction to contract security personnel assigned to Federal Protective Service (FPS) locations. This role includes conducting a wide range of security-related training and analyzing training data to support training needs assessments and recommendations.

- National Weapons Detection Training Program (NWDT) modules
Mandatory Certifications
Candidates must present valid instructor-level certifications in the following:
- Firearms Instructor
Must have completed an accredited Firearms Instructor course (e.g., NRA, Police Academy, state POST Academy, FLETC, or military equivalent) resulting in instructor certification.
- At least two years of demonstrated experience in law enforcement or security methodologies.
- At least two years of documented instructor experience.
- Must meet Protective Security Officer qualification standards.
- Proficiency in developing documents using Microsoft Office applications.
Instructor credentials in the following areas are highly preferred:
- First Aid/CPR/AED
Instructor certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. - Expandable Baton
Instructor certification from an approved program (e.g., ASP, Monadnock, Police Academy, state POST Academy, FLETC, or military equivalent). - OC Spray
Instructor certification from an approved program (same approved sources as above). - Defensive Tactics
Instructor certification from an approved program (same approved sources as above). - NWDTP Instructor (National Weapons Detection Training Program)
Must hold current NWDTP instructor credentials.
- Required: High School Diploma or GED
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Homeland Security, Security Administration, Criminal Justice, or a closely related field
- Must pass a medical exam and drug screening
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English clearly
- Must be able to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends
