Lead Security Controls Technician
Cornerstone Detention is seeking an experienced Lead Security Controls Technician to install and troubleshoot electronic door control systems in occupied State correctional facilities throughout the Southeast United States. These systems are typically PLC-controlled or relay-based detention door control systems. This is a hands-on field position requiring strong low-voltage troubleshooting skills, the ability to read prints, and the ability to lead a small crew while coordinating with the General Contractor, subcontractors, and the customer.
Primary Responsibilities
- Install and terminate PLC-based detention door control systems
- Install and wire electronic locking hardware (110VAC constant feed locks)
- Install and test 24VDC door position sensors
- Wire and troubleshoot analog graphics panels (N/O and N/C switches tied to PLC inputs)
- Identify faults in relay logic including Form C relay operation
- Pull, terminate, and test low-voltage and control wiring
- Diagnose voltage, continuity, and control circuit issues using a multimeter
- Lead a small installation crew and coordinate work with the project team
- Coordinate with programming division during system commissioning
Additional Expectations
- This is a working lead technician position, not a helper position
- Must be able to read prints and work without constant supervision
- Must be comfortable troubleshooting low-voltage control circuits independently
- Must be comfortable working in correctional facilities and following facility security procedures
- Must be able to coordinate work with General Contractors, subcontractors, and the customer
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of low-voltage installation and troubleshooting experience
- Strong understanding of basic electrical theory and low-voltage control systems
- Highly proficient using a multimeter for troubleshooting voltage and control circuits
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and construction drawings
- Experience with access control, CCTV, fence detection, or related security systems is a strong plus
- Must pass criminal background check
- Must pass drug screening (random testing required)
