Job TitleCoordinate and direct the movement of trucks and freight in order to make pickups and deliveries in an efficient and timely manner. Record and allocate all requests for delivery and pickup within established territories among the available drivers. Consolidate freight orders into truckloads for specific destinations. Select vehicle route for efficient movement and prepares pickup and delivery schedules. Record all information for proper billing. Assign drivers and trucks. Call extra drivers when needed to handle unexpected volume. Maintain radio, phone, and computer contact with trucks, receives, and dispatches aid in response to any emergency needs for assistance or repairs. Record and maintain files and records of driver logs, dispatch logs, customer requests, equipment availability, assessorial charges, expenses, inventory, fuel, and other dispatch information. Keep vehicle inventory with accurate records of trailers being used for off-site storage to ensure proper billing. Supervise maintenance and repair schedules for all vehicles. Punctuality and regular attendance is mandatory. Other duties and assignments as requested by management.Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel are vital. Must be able to understand formulas in Excel. Ability to work efficiently under pressure and at a fast pace. Good management skills in making driver assignments and developing cooperation among the team of drivers. Good knowledge of geographical area to facilitate efficient routing. Good time management and ability to multi-task. Good organizational skills and attention to detail. Good oral expression and the ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand. Good problem sensitivity to be able to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. Able to solve most problems or know when to escalate larger problems up to management. Good active listening skills, gives full attention to what other people are saying and taking the time to understand the points being made, and asking questions as appropriate. Must be able to multi-task in a high demand environment. Must be able to be to work on time with good attendance.Minimum Qualifications: CC degree or equivalent work experience, 3 or more yrs experience in warehouse and freight operations assisting with similar duties. Excellent computer skills to keep accurate records of all vehicle movements. Past dispatch/logistics experience preferred. Effective professional written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency on computer, using MS Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook) required. Knowledge of office procedures such as maintaining files, organization and attention to detail. Active driver's license.Typical Working Conditions: Primarily work is performed in a temperature controlled office environment with minimal exposure to cold, heat, chemicals, fumes, et cetera. Occasional travel by car or plane to other Biagi Bros. locations. Equipment Used: General office equipment is used including the computer, phone, keyboard, mouse, copier, scanner, postage machines, metal file cabinets and desk accessories e.g. letter opener.
