    Security Supervisor

    Under the direction of the Senior Director of Security, the Security Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the 2nd shift Security department, including the supervision of Security personnel. The Security Supervisor directs department staff to ensure a safe and secure campus for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

    Essential duties include supervising daily workflow, schedules, activities, and assignments of security staff; participating in evaluating staff performance; preparing and conducting training for new hires and current staff on a variety of security topics; assisting in interviewing, hiring, and training security staff; investigating loss events and compiling data for accurate reporting; performing regular walk-throughs and security inspections of campuses; serving as a liaison to internal and external stakeholders; supervising, planning, and coordinating traffic and pedestrian flow control for school activities and special events; responding to calls and requests for service and inquiries; and attending and conducting a variety of meetings as assigned by the Senior Director of Security.

    Knowledge and abilities include patrol and security methods and procedures; general principles of supervision and training; regulations pertaining to the protection of buildings, property, and grounds owned by Saint Ignatius High School; safety practices and procedures; first aid and CPR; conflict management and resolution; principles and practices of supervision, training, and performance evaluation; oral and written communication skills; interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy; operation of a computer and assigned software; thinking clearly and logically, using good judgment, and making rapid and logical decisions in emergencies; remembering names, faces, and details of occurrences; planning, organizing, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating the work of others; training security personnel; preparing work schedules of assigned personnel; conducting thorough investigations; keeping complete and accurate records; preparing concise and descriptive reports recommending actions as appropriate; administering first aid and CPR; maintaining confidentiality; operating a vehicle observing legal and defensive driving practices; operating two-way radio equipment and enunciating clearly when broadcasting; operating a computer and using related software; sending and receiving emails and researching information through the Internet; operating equipment using a variety of standardized methods; communicating effectively both orally and in writing; working independently with little direction and providing work direction to others; making effective decisions and taking independent action; problem solving to analyze issues, create plans of action, and reach solutions; analyzing and evaluating data for specific use; dealing effectively with students and maintaining good relations with school personnel, local law enforcement personnel, and the public; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others; working as part of a team; understanding and being sensitive to, and respecting the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation of the public, students, teachers, administrators, and staff; developing and maintaining effective interpersonal relations using tact, patience, and courtesy; maintaining consistent, punctual, and regular attendance.

    Education and experience: possession of a High School diploma or GED, and five (5) years of related security experience is required. Possession of a bachelor's degree in a related field of study is desired.

    Licenses and other requirements: valid State of Ohio driver's license and evidence of insurability.

    Physical and mental demands: requires walking, standing, and patrolling the entire campus on foot, via bicycle and patrol vehicle and upon occasion, streets and property that are contiguous to the campus. Patrolling year round, including in inclement weather; rain, snow, cold, and hot weather. Since all of Saint Ignatius buildings are multi-floored, considerable stair climbing is required.

    Working conditions: virtually all of the work is done on Saint Ignatius Campus within the confines of its buildings, parking lots, and properties. The environments are clean, well-kept, and well lit. Hourly range $23-$25/hr.
