    Crossing Guard

    Non-Union Cycle III

    ESSENTAIL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Maintains proper environment, discipline and student control during at assigned crossing location.
    • Enforces safety, security, discipline where assigned.
    • Safely performs duties in accordance with training and guidelines.
    • Exhibits vigilance and care when stopping traffic and crossing children.
    • Report problems or situations of a serious nature, including recurrent behavior problems and safety hazards to Principal, Transportation Director or other appropriate administrative staff.
    • Work closely with staff in eliminating behavior problems occurring during assigned duty.
    • Maintain visible contact with students on street and crossings.
    • Safeguard students from harm or injury.
    • Reports to School Principal and Director of Transportation. Perform related duties as assigned.
    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Graduation from High School or equivalent is desirable. Experience in youth work, or in working with youth is desirable.

    ADA & MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
    • Physical Requirements: Must be able to exert 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Requires walking or standing to a significant degree.
    • Data Conception: Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable, functional, structural or composite characteristics (whether similar or divergent from obvious standards) of data, people or things. Requires good eyesight and hearing in order to observe students and surroundings.
    • Interpersonal Communication: Requires the ability to speak and/or signal people to convey or exchange information. Includes giving Instructions, assignments or directions.
    • Language Ability: Requires the ability to read, speak and write.
    • Intelligence: Requires the ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, perceive dangers or situations.
    • Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently.
    • Motor Coordination: Requires the ability to coordinate hands and eyes rapidly and accurately.
    • Manual Dexterity: Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.
    • Physical Communication: Requires the ability to talk and hear: (Talking: expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words. Hearing: perceiving nature of sounds by ear.) Must be able to communicate via telephone
