    Fire Department - Fleet Division
    Location: 5130 Deramus Avenue
    Pay: $43.70-$51.12 per hour

    Schedule:
    Two shifts available (bid by seniority):
    • Monday-Thursday, 6:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
    • Tuesday-Friday, 6:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
      Alternating on-call rotation with 24-hour on-call responsibilities. Some work may occur outside normal hours and on weekends.

    What you'll do
    • Diagnose, repair, and maintain emergency response vehicles so frontline crews can respond without delay
    • Operate vehicles, machinery, and heavy equipment safely to support fleet readiness and uptime
    • Use advanced diagnostic tools, scan tools, alignment machines, and PC-based platforms to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, gas, and diesel systems
    • Install and maintain specialized aftermarket equipment and emergency vehicle electronics critical to fire and rescue operations
    • Perform welding, hydraulic, and A/C system work to keep vehicles in peak operating condition

    What you'll bring
    • Strong hands-on experience with gas and diesel engines, electrical systems, and diagnostics
    • Ability to operate fleet vehicles, machinery, and heavy equipment safely
    • Experience with welding, hydraulics, A/C systems, and electronic installations
    • Comfort using modern diagnostic tools and PC-based platforms
    • Ability to supply your own general service hand tools
    • Willingness to meet City of KCMO residency requirements



    Qualifications

    REQUIRES 3 years of skilled experience in automotive repairs; OR an equivalent combination of qualifying education and experience which may include the successful completion of an automotive repair trade school or the successful completion of a vocational technical program in automotive maintenance or completion of the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification as a master automotive/truck technician. Must possess a valid state-issued driver's license in accordance with City of KCMO policies. May be required to possess a valid CDL. Must possess a valid State of Missouri Inspector Mechanic permit by the end of the probationary period. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City.
