As an
LVN, you will be an essential part of our healthcare team, delivering direct patient care, assisting with treatment plans, and ensuring the well-being of those you serve. Your responsibilities will include administering medications, performing health assessments, and contributing to a dynamic and purpose-driven workplace.
Major/Essential Functions1. Direct Patient Care- Deliver basic nursing care within scope of LVN practice, including vital signs, wound care, medication administration, lab draws/phlebotomy, and other treatments.
- Process patient sick call requests according to policy
- Assist in sick call, chronic care clinics, intake screenings, and other clinic visits
- Monitor patient health status and report changes promptly to appropriate clinical staff.
- Administer prescribed medications accurately and safely in accordance with protocols.
- Maintain medication records and ensure proper documentation.
- Observe and report therapeutic effects and adverse reactions.
- Promote adherence to treatment plans through patient education.
- Coordinate care within the interdisciplinary team, including mental health, dental, and specialty services.
- Prepare and maintain clinical areas, supplies, and equipment efficiently to support cost-effective care delivery.
2. Documentation & Compliance- Accurately document patient encounters in the electronic health record (EHR) and all other applicable systems (e.g., PTM) in a timely manner.
- Ensure compliance with correctional healthcare standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of patient health information.
3. Infection Control & Safety- Follow infection prevention and control policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Adhere to safety and security procedures specific to the correctional environment.
- Respond appropriately to medical emergencies using established protocols.
4. Quality & Cost Stewardship- Support organizational initiatives focused on quality improvement and cost-effective care.
- Utilize resources responsibly to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
- Participate in audits, training, and performance improvement activities.
Licensed Vocational Nurse Differential:- Day Shift Employees: Earn an extra $3.00 per hour for shifts worked on Saturday and Sunday.
- Night Shift Employees:
- Earn an extra $3.00 per hour for shifts worked Monday through Friday.
- Earn an extra $6.00 per hour for shifts worked on Saturday and Sunday.
Required QualificationsCurrent Vocational Nurse License in the State of Texas, or ability to transfer license to Texas, or scheduled to complete a program of vocational nursing within 120 days of applying for a position . Current CPR certification. Graduated from an approved accredited nursing program. New graduates must pass the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX- PN) on the first attempt. No experience required.
