Treasury Services Technician II --> Starting Salary, Range 10 $18.22
Treasury Services Technician III --> Starting Salary, Range 12 $20.09
This position is based in the front office of the Treasurer’s Department and operates within a traditional office environment with set working hours. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with weekends and holidays off.
The role is primarily desk-based and includes responsibilities such as greeting guests, answering phones, managing emails, and performing general administrative tasks. No travel is required for this position. This position involves regular interaction with the public, both over the phone and at the front counter. Strong customer service skills are essential. The ideal candidate must be willing to learn, adapt to the evolving needs of the office, and contribute to overall efficiency while supporting the team.

Essential Job Functions- Provides general information to the public regarding real and personal property tax over the phone, internet, and in person.
- Responsible for receiving, accounting, and recording payment transactions relative to property tax receipts from individual taxpayers, lending institutions, escrow and title companies.
- Reads and interprets critical taxpayer payment histories and arranges tax information in logical sequence of events to resolve discrepancies and inquiries.
- Calculates interest and penalties.
- Responds to tax related questions from other County employees or the public both orally and in writing.
- Maintains files and documents containing taxpayer information per established policies, procedures and retention schedules.
- Reviews incoming and outgoing computer data for accuracy, completeness and quality.
- Explains policies, procedures and laws in order to respond to more difficult and complex taxpayer inquiries directly related to the duties performed.
- May process tax lien payments.
- Researches and reconciles tax overpayments to ensure accuracy.
- Cross trains in other Treasury Department positions as needed.
- Applies refunds to accounts to reconcile tax charges.
- May process split billings by reviewing and analyzing parcel history involving splits and combines, ownership changes and identifying and reconciling errors.
- May review subordinate staff work for completeness and correct or reject as necessary to ensure daily work assignments are accurate.
Minimum Qualifications Treasury Services Technician II: - High School Diploma/GED (General Education Degree).
- Minimum of Three (3) years progressively responsible advanced administrative and clerical office support experience with which: One (1) of the Three (3) years is performing specialized support in the assigned department or comparable organization.
- One (1) of the Three (3) year minimum is in cash handling and/or customer service experience.
- OR an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered in meeting the minimum qualifications.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Training: Treasury Services Technician III: - High School Diploma/GED (General Education Degree).
- Minimum of four (4) years progressively responsible advanced administrative and clerical office support experience with which: two (2) of the four (4) years is performing specialized support in the assigned department or comparable organization.
- One (1) of the four (4) years’ experience is in cash handling/customer service.
- OR an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered in meeting the minimum qualifications.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Training: Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- English grammar, spelling and basic math.
- Standard office practices, procedures and equipment.
- Computers and software programs to include use of electronic spreadsheet and word processing applications.
- Data entry and verification procedures.
- Operating and utilizing modern office machines as necessary to include copiers, fax transmittal machines, calculator and the use of computer keyboards and related software and peripheral equipment.
- Communicating and maintaining professionalism with the public, Treasury Team, peers and work contacts.
- Successfully participate in extensive public contact for extended periods at a rapid pace and sometimes under stressful and confrontational situations.
- Type accurately and at a speed necessary to fulfill job responsibilities.
- Make rapid and accurate mathematical computations.
- Research and verify information.
- Work neatly and systematically in order to accurately maintain up-to-date records and documentation.
- Interpret and research utilizing Arizona Revised Statutes.
- Use prudent and reasonable judgment in applying established guidelines to solve technical challenges.
