    The Job

    The Innovation and Technology Department (ITD) is recruiting for an Enterprise Application Administrator-Trainee* to support Countywide enterprise systems in a centralized IT environment.

    Incumbents provide advanced technical support, systems analysis, and maintenance for enterprise applications in both on-premises and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) environments. This position is responsible for troubleshooting issues, supporting system upgrades and implementations, and ensuring system reliability, security, and performance across critical County systems.

    This position serves as a technical resource and works collaboratively with infrastructure, network, security, development teams, and external vendors.
    Duties may include:
    • Administer, configure, and maintain enterprise applications in both on-premises and SaaS environments.
    • Provide Tier 2 support for enterprise applications; troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve issues.
    • Manage enterprise platforms such as Microsoft IIS, ServiceNow, FileNet (content management), FTP/SFTP services, monitoring systems, task schedulers, SSL certificates, mainframe-integrated applications, and AI-based tools (e.g., ChatGPT Enterprise).
    • Perform application lifecycle activities, including installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, and decommissioning.
    • Support enterprise web hosting environments, including IIS configuration, application security, and performance tuning.
    • Administer SSL/TLS certificates, including issuance, renewal, deployment, and troubleshooting.
    • Support enterprise file transfer systems ensuring secure and reliable data exchange.
    • Support enterprise system monitoring (Broadcom Unified Infrastructure Management).
    • Participate in enterprise projects such as system implementations, migrations, and upgrades.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams including network, security, database, and development teams.
    • Ensure systems comply with County, State, and Federal security and audit requirements.
    • Develop and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and knowledge base articles.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

    Pre-Employment Process: Applicants must successfully pass a background check and a job-related physical exam, including a drug test, prior to employment.

    Travel:
    Travel

    throughout the County may be required and employees will be required to make

    provisions for such transportation.

    Availability: Incumbents may occasionally work evening and weekend hours. Some overtime, on-call, or call back work may be required.

    Minimum Requirements

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of full-time equivalent experience within the last five (5) years performing systems administration supporting complex applications and infrastructure.

    Experience must include responsibility in at least two (2) of the following areas:
    • Familiarity of enterprise application platforms (e.g., IIS, ServiceNow, FileNet, UIM, FTP, SSL, or similar)
    • Administration of Operating Systems - Windows Server, Red Hat Linux, IBM z/OS
    • Web/application hosting and support
    • High availability, disaster recovery, or business continuity
    • Integration of on-premises and SaaS systems
    • Secure communications (e.g., SSL certificates, authentication systems)
    • Monitoring and performance tuning of enterprise systems


    -AND-

    REQUIRED EDUCATION: Thirty (30) semester (45 quarter) units of completed, post high-school coursework from an accredited university or technical school in computer science, or a closely related field. A list of coursework must be submitted with the application.

    Education Substitution: One (1) additional year of qualifying work experience may substitute for the education requirement.

    Desired Qualifications

    The ideal candidate will possess experience within two or more of the below areas:
    • Experience supporting enterprise, Countywide platforms in a centralized IT environment.
    • Experience working in a public sector or government organization.
    • Experience supporting both on-premises and SaaS platforms.
    • Familiarity with multiple operating systems (Windows Server, Linux, IBM z/OS)
    • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues.
    • Web technologies (IIS, HTTP/HTTPS)
    • IT Service Management (ITSM) tools and processes (e.g., ServiceNow)
    • SSL/TLS certificate management
    • File transfer technologies (FTP/SFTP)
    • System integrations, APIs, and authentication (SSO, SAML, OAuth)
