The Tulare County Health & Human Services Agency (HHSA) is currently recruiting a
Registered Nurse. The successful candidate must have the ability to maintain effective working relationships with clients, the public, staff, and other departments and agencies. This position will work closely with licensed and non-licensed personnel to assess and coordinate services. This recruitment will establish an employment list to fill immediate and future vacancies throughout HHSA’s Public Health, Behavioral Health, and Human Services Branches. Incumbents working in Public Health Programs in the Public Health Branch will provide services to people with a variety of social and economic backgrounds (a variety of ages, different cultures, etc.). Public Health Programs include California Children’s Services, the Child Health and Disability Program, Public Health Nursing Community Health, Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health, Communicable Disease, and Tuberculosis programs. Duties will include interaction with medical and mental health service providers on behalf of clients and HHSA staff. Incumbents working in the Public Health Branch, Mental Health Branch, and Human Services Branch may visit clients in their homes.
Candidates accepting one of these positions may be eligible for loan repayment of up to $16,000 in exchange for a 12-month service obligation practicing and providing direct patient care in an underserved community. Typical DutiesKey Responsibilities- Administer and record medication, immunizations, and treatments rendered to patients.
- Obtain necessary laboratory specimens, evaluate results of tests, route abnormal results to the appropriate physician, and complete necessary charges on patient records.
- Arrange for appointments and referrals of patients.
- Provide education and counseling to clients with various health conditions.
- Give instructions to patients and family on medications, diet, and medical procedures.
- Attend various meetings and training sessions.
Minimum QualificationsRequired Qualifications Candidates must meet the qualifications listed below by the application deadline
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- A valid Registered Nurse License issued by the California State Board of Nursing
Additional InformationConditions of Employment- Candidates selected will be required to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. Additionally, a background investigation may also be conducted, which may include a re-investigation every 10 years for some positions. Benefit Amount: An annual benefit amount is provided and may be applied towards health insurance premiums (medical, dental, vision and life). This benefit is pro-rated and paid on a pay period basis (24 pay periods).

Retirement: The retirement plan is a defined benefit plan administered pursuant to the 1937 Act County Employees Retirement Act and integrated with Social Security. In addition to ordinary retirement benefits, the plan provides disability and death benefits. Retirement contributions are made by both the County and the employee. The County has reciprocity with the State of California, contracting PERS agencies, and all County 1937 Act Retirement Systems.
Paid Holiday Leave: 12 set days and 1 personal holiday

Vacation Accrual: 2 weeks per year (0-3 years of service)
3 weeks per year (3-7 years of service)
4 weeks per year (7-11 years of service)
5 weeks per year (11+ years of service)
Limit of 300 hours.
Sick Leave Accrual: 12 days per year with unlimited accumulation, 60 hours of which may be used toward family sick leave.
Career Incentive Pay Employees who have completed five (5) or more Years of Service with Tulare County and meet the eligibility criteria described in Administrative Regulation - 52, earn additional pay according to the schedule below.
