Job Description:Austin Energy Careers in Energy Internship Program provides a unique opportunity to learn about the energy industry as a public power utility by working with passionate, dedicated professionals. As an intern, you will work side by side with some of our critical projects to gain experience in your desired field. You will be assigned a mentor and leader who will help you understand our role as a municipally owned utility for the City of Austin and take your skills to the next level. As an intern working with Tech and Data, you will be assigned to work in one of our business units that is related to your degree plan in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, Network Administration, and related fields. In addition to day-to-day work assignments, interns will be assigned a unique project(s) to complete during their time with us. At the end of the program, interns will give a formal presentation describing their project and outcomes.

- Must have a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale as an undergrad, post grad or recent grad.
Preferred Qualifications:(Intern who will support AI tool identification, configuration, and testing)
:- Currently pursuing a degree or certificate in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of AI and machine learning concepts gained through coursework, self‑study, or projects.
- Familiarity with common AI tools or platforms (such as Python libraries, cloud AI services, or API‑based AI tools).
- Ability to follow technical procedures for tool setup, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Experience completing at least one academic or personal project involving data analysis, scripting, or the use of AI‑related tools.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail during testing and documentation.
- Ability to communicate findings clearly and work collaboratively with technical and non‑technical team members.
Preferred Qualifications: (Intern who will support data analysis and the development of visualizations in Tableau and Power BI):
- Currently pursuing a degree or certificate in Information Technology, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or a related field.

- Familiarity with data visualization principles and the ability to create simple charts or dashboards using Tableau or Power BI (class projects or self‑study acceptable).
- Foundational skills in working with structured data, such as Excel, CSV files, or introductory SQL.
- Ability to follow established processes for preparing datasets and building reports.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to document analysis steps and visualization choices.
- Effective communication skills to present findings to technical and non‑technical team members.
