San Bernardino County Department of Behavioral Health invites qualified professionals to apply for the position of
Behavioral Health Training Coordinator. Behavioral Health Training Coordinators use strong instructional design skills to plan, coordinate, create, manage, and deliver effective and engaging training programs to a diverse workforce. Incumbents will integrate adult learning best practices into both in-person and interactive e-learning training modules utilizing a variety of media formats. Key responsibilities involve developing curriculum, crafting lesson plans, and creating online content. Incumbents will be responsible for monitoring continuing education unit (CEU) requirements across the Department in accordance with relevant professional board standards (e.g., APA, BBS, BRN, etc.), and must possess the expertise to directly instruct and facilitate CEU-approved courses to support a culture of continuous learning and workforce competency.
Examples of typical job duties include:
- Designs, develops, and builds interactive and engaging e-learning courses and modules using various authoring tools (e.g., Articulate, Storyline, Rise, Review, Adobe Captivate, Adobe Premiere, Canva, etc.).
- Facilitates engaging in-person and virtual training sessions for diverse behavioral health staff.
- Conducts needs assessments with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to identify training priorities across behavioral health programs and staff roles.
- Administers and maintains the Learning Management System (LMS), including course management, reporting, and learner support.
- Interprets and applies CEU requirements from professional licensing boards.
- Serves as the liaison with accrediting agencies and CE providers.
- Recruits, coordinates, and supports internal/external instructors, speakers, and training vendors.
- Collaborates with local agencies, educational institutions, and community partners on training initiatives.
- Develops and implements evaluation methods to assess training effectiveness.
- Plans and coordinates training schedules, logistics, and resources.

The
Department of Behavioral Health (DBH) is responsible for providing mental health and substance use disorder services to county residents who are experiencing major mental illness or substance abuse related issues. DBH provides mental health and substance use disorder prevention and treatment services to all age groups, with a primary emphasis on treating children/youth who may be seriously emotionally disturbed, adults who are experiencing a serious and persistent mental illness, and individuals who are experiencing substance use disorders. Experience: One (1) year of full-time equivalent experience using instructional design methodologies, adult learning principles, and education technology tools to develop and deliver
professional training experiences. Experience must include performing complex needs assessments, including obtaining and organizing information from relevant materials, subject matter experts, and other resources to design and develop effective, engaging, and interactive live and e-Learning courses, course instruction, and facilitation strategies.
Desired QualificationsThe ideal candidate will have strong instructional design skills, experience developing both in-person and e-learning trainings, and a solid understanding of adult learning principles. The ideal candidate will also have experience supporting CEU-eligible coursework, working with LMS platforms, and developing training in behavioral health, healthcare, or human services settings.
Strong communication and project management skills, along with a commitment to high-quality workforce development, are highly valued.
An established eLearning portfolio is highly desired, including experience with Articulate 360, Storyline, Rise, and/or Adobe Creative Cloud applications.
