    This is a part-time position. The incumbent will work up to 19 hours per week. Work schedule may include mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends. Bilingual pay is an additional $1.01/hour, if applicable.

    T here is currently one (1) vacancy in the Technology & Support division.

    Essential Functions Include But Are Not Limited To

    Under close supervision, ensures the organization and cleanliness of library stacks by accurately shelving, sorting, arranging, and maintaining the library collection. Shelves, files, and maintains a variety of materials including books, magazines, newspapers, DVDs, and other library items. Retrieves and organizes materials used or returned by patrons, including collecting items from the bookdrop. Ensures materials are shelved in the correct order, either alphabetically or according to Dewey Decimal classification, and identifies any misplaced or missing items. Cleans and dusts shelving areas, sanitizes and shelves the Library of Things collection, and shifts materials as needed to accommodate changes in the collection. Assists with processing daily newspapers and supports opening and closing procedures for the library. Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Must have education and experience equivalent to two years of high school. Must be able tofile alphabetically and numerically with accuracy; learn routine library tasks within a reasonable time frame; correctly shelve materials using a decimal-based call number system (Dewey Decimal); establish and maintain effective working relations with other employees and library patrons; be reliable and prompt and comfortable with detailed work.

    Special Requirements: Must be willing and able to work evenings and weekends as needed. The position requires physical capability to shelve items on upper and lower shelves, bend frequently, push heavy carts, and lift up to 20 pounds. Must be able to work at various library locations, including outdoor environments and community centers.

    Part-Time employees accrue paid sick leave at the rate of one (1) hour of paid sick leave for every thirty (30) hours worked up to a maximum accrual of 6 days or 48 hours. Employees are eligible to use 3 days or 24 hours of accrued paid sick leave in a 12-month period.
