    Job Description

    Working Title: Administrative Director

    Department Name: Center for Community Engaged Teaching and Research (CETR)

    Division: Academic Affairs

    Classification Title: Administrator I

    MPP employees serve at the pleasure of the campus President. MPPs do not serve a probationary period and never receive permanent status.

    Position Salary Range: $7,496 - $11,244 per month

    The anticipated hiring range for this position is $7,500 - $8,200 per month.

    Salary is commensurate with experience.

    About the Department/Position:

    Under the general direction of the Dean of Undergraduate Studies, the Administrative Director will be responsible for developing and overseeing processes for initiating and sustaining community partnerships to support community-engaged teaching and research ensuring compliance with EO 1064, and other CSUDH Risk Management policies; managing CETR's state and grant-based budgets; managing staff, including those who support the College Corps program; collaborating with the Faculty Director of CETR to design and implement professional development programming for faculty related to community engagement; collaborating with departments across the university such as Procurement & Contracts, Human Resources, Toro Auxiliary Partners (TAP), Academic Programs, Central Academic Affairs Budget Office, Financial Aid, and the Academic Colleges; serving as a consistent point of contact for the Chancellor's Center for Community Engagement and California Volunteers and ensuring compliance with their guidelines and policies, including data collection through S4 and the Community Engaged Learning Tool (CELT).

    Overview of Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Manage administrative, budget, and staff operations to ensure that CETR and all its programs, including grant-funded programs like College Corps, are operating successfully.
    • Develop, and oversee processes for initiating and sustaining, reciprocal community partnerships for both CETR, College Corps, and other related grant programs in ways that ensure compliance with Chancellor’s Executive Order 1064, other funders’ and CSUDH Risk-management policies.
    • Oversee collaborations between faculty and community partners to create community engaged teaching/research reciprocal and mutually beneficial partnerships.
    • Oversee events and activities such as faculty and community partners gatherings, meetings, and conferences, and collaborate with relevant departments and units across campus to design, implement, and assess community-engaged teaching and research across the campus.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Experience: Three - five (3-5) years of experience in higher education community engagement, staff management, budget management, building and sustaining faculty-community partnerships, and familiarity with CSU and CSUDH policies and guidelines.

      One (1) year of supervisory/managerial or leadership experience.
    • Education: equivalent to a bachelor’s degree.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders relevant to CETR's work on and off campus.
    • Experience and disposition toward maintaining a discipline to critically reflect individually and with others.
    • Skills to supervise and manage people in a firm, fair manner; holding high expectations/standards for professionalism and accountability.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Master’s degree
    • Familiarity with CETR’s collaborative multi-stakeholder approach
    • Ability to include relevant stakeholders in decisions related to CETR’s approach
    • Experience working with non-profit organizations
    • Commitment to diversity and inclusion
