    Job Description

    Job Summary

    This position will manage the CINE Department's Equipment Room and coordinate the use of production, post-production, and storage facilities. The incumbent will work with faculty, staff, and students to provide support and service for the check-in, check-out, and use of film production and postproduction equipment and software.

    Key Responsibilities

      ◦ Coordinate and provide service and support for the check-in, check-out, reservation, and use of film production and post-production equipment and CINE production facilities.
      ◦ Oversee, train, and supervise student employees.
      ◦ Conduct periodic inventory, inspection, maintenance, and repair of film production equipment.
      ◦ Maintain scheduled hours of operation and monitor building security.
      ◦ Provide instructor and student support for the use of production and post-production equipment and software.


    Knowledge Skills and Abilities

    General knowledge of the methods, materials, and other tools used in the set-up, inspection, maintenance, and repair of film and digital production equipment. Ability to analyze problems with film and digital production equipment and determine necessary repairs. Ability to adhere to and apply policies and procedures regarding the safe and proper use of film and digital production equipment. Ability to adhere to and apply policies and procedures regarding the safe and proper use of film and digital production equipment. Ability to keep simple work and inventory records and compose professional emails and letters using Microsoft Office and inventory software.

    Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

    Education and Experience

    Required qualifications:

    • Equivalent to one year of journey-level experience in the maintenance, repair, and operation of scientific or technical Electro-Mechanical equipment requiring construction and fabrication skills, some precision work, and trade or craft skills working with a variety of unique materials, or specialized knowledge and skill related to unusual equipment required.

    Desired/Preferred qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in film production or film-related discipline.

    • Two years of educational training (e.g., community college) with specialization in film production.

    • Two years of experience working with film (16mm and 35mm) and digital cameras on professional productions, at film equipment rental houses, or in film production-related academic instructional support.

    • Familiarity with the use and maintenance of lighting, grip, and location sound equipment.

    • Experience supervising, coordinating, and scheduling the work of others.

    • Availability to work evening hours.

    Physical Summary

    Heavy work - Job involves lifting more than 40 pounds. Approximately half of the incumbent's time will be spent walking, standing, squatting, kneeling, or climbing.

    CSUEU: Effective 10/1/2025, a new salary step structure and job classifications will be implemented under the CSU-CSUEU Agreement. Job duties will remain unchanged; however, this position may be assigned to a new classification with an updated salary range. Employees will be notified of any changes.     Compensation

    Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

    Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $4,033 - $5,187 per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.

    CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $4,033 - $7,299 per month.

    1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.

    Duration of Appointment

    This is a temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.

    Additional Information
